The Slovakian economy is open, export-oriented and has been driven by continuing inward investment in the car industry, strong integration into global value chains and resulting improvements in labor productivity. Swiss entrepreneurs praise Slovakia for new business opportunities in the IT, financial and cleantech sector, as well as well-educated and skilled workforce combined with the labor market offering competitive wage costs. Other promising areas include green transformation, e-mobility, environmental protection, healthcare and urban planning. These are areas where Swiss investors can still count on significant support from the EU. The size of Swiss direct investment has more than doubled in the last 10 years. There are currently around 70 Swiss companies operating in Slovakia.
