In the the 2000s the government has implemented several investment programs mainly in the areas of energy, homebuilding, and transport infrastructure. Attempts to booster investment has only partially succeeded, but it still represents a very interesting opportunity for foreign supplier and companies operation in the sector.  
For decades Brazil has lived with a significant deficit in infrastructure investments that contributed to the countries difficulties in further develop its economy. In 2019, according to the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the country was in the last position among others 21 Latin American economies, when considering public Investment in infrastructure.

Investment Partnership Program (PPI)

The solution for the lack of public funds was to target the private sector. At the end of 2016, the Federal Government announced the creation of the PPI - Investment Partnership Program to foster partnerships between the state and private companies in order to bolster a new cycle of investment in infrastructure.
