The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), Public Law 117-58, allocates an historic $1.2 trillion investment in America’s infrastructure over the next decade. These infrastructure programs focus on bridges, roads, ports, airports, rail, power, water, and digital infrastructure such as Electrical Vehicle Charging apparatus. In that regard, Swiss competencies and ingenuity in the infrastructure space indeed present a high value proposition to the U.S. marketplace. Now, the law incorporates “Buy American (BA), Build America/Buy America (BABA)” provisions which restricts foreign sourcing and content; however, there may still be market opportunities for Swiss companies, by virtue of the WTO Global Procurement Agreement.
