Agricultural production is an important pillar of Guatemala's economy, contributing close to 10% of GDP, employing more than half of the workforce and providing two-thirds of exports, mainly coffee, sugar, bananas, and beef. Guatemala faces some challenges to modernize its agriculture sector and to be included in the international supply chains. Nevertheless, the country also counts with several companies willing to invest in technology to improve productiveness.
