Sustainability is part of how S-GE fulfils its mandate: strengthening Switzerland as a business location and supporting Swiss companies in international markets in a way that is future-oriented and responsible.
Our approach focuses on creating long-term value by considering economic performance alongside environmental and social aspects. On this page, we outline what guides our work, how sustainability is anchored in our organisation, and where we focus our efforts. It provides the overarching orientation for our activities across investment promotion, export support, and our corporate responsibility.

Why sustainability matters for S-GE
Sustainability is an integral part of S-GE’s core business and a key success factor for Switzerland as a business location and for our customers’ international business. We address sustainability as both an opportunity and a responsibility, with a focus on what companies need in practice to remain competitive in global markets.
What we commit to as an organisation
We embed sustainability across our activities in export promotion, investment promotion, and our own operations. This means we strengthen sustainability related support for companies, we apply sustainability considerations in relevant processes, and we continuously develop our approach based on experience and stakeholder needs.
Partnership approach
S-GE works with partners to increase impact and build trusted access to networks, tools, and expertise. Through the UN Global Compact Network, we commit to reflecting the ten principles in our strategy and operations, raising awareness among companies, and reporting on our sustainability efforts on an ongoing basis.
How we build and share sustainability expertise
We strengthen internal capabilities so sustainability topics can be addressed consistently across services. This includes building practical knowledge on market requirements and sustainability topics, and expanding our network so companies can be referred to suitable tools and partners when needed.
