Interview questions for Hugues‑Vincent Roy, CEO, AISA Automation Industrielle SA

What is your long-term vision for AISA over the next five to ten years?

AISA aims to sustainably strengthen its role as a pioneer and global leader in the design of packaging tube manufacturing solutions. This vision is based on accelerating technological innovation, continuously improving industrial efficiency and reducing the environmental impact of the solutions offered.

What role do automation, machine learning and data analytics play in your current and future installations?

The integration of advanced technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, enables self-adjusting machines and automated quality control. These innovations help optimise production line performance, reduce manual intervention and ensure consistently high quality.

How does AISA differentiate itself technologically from its competitors?

AISA stands out through its strong culture of innovation, high flexibility and its pioneering role in tube production using environmentally friendly materials such as mono-materials, post-consumer recycled plastics (PCR) and paper. High quality and a wide range of decoration options are maintained, while ensuring an excellent visual finish.

How does AISA respond to increasing regulatory requirements in the field of sustainable packaging?

AISA supports its customers in markets with increasingly strict environmental regulations by offering machines specifically designed and optimised for the production of tubes made from mono-materials, PCR and paper, thereby meeting current and future sustainability requirements.

Which skills will be most important for future employees in the automation industry?

Expertise in automation, robotics, industrial programming, data science and technological innovation will remain essential to ensure the development, further advancement and maintenance of our production solutions.

How would you describe AISA’s corporate culture?

AISA fosters strong values such as innovation, customer focus, quality, reliability and sustainability. We promote an environment that supports the continuous development of our employees’ skills and encourages a holistic, long-term view of projects. This approach represents a clear competitive advantage for both employees and the company.

What do your customers expect today that they did not expect five years ago?

Compared to five years ago, customers today expect higher levels of automation, greater flexibility in production lines and stronger integration of digital technologies to optimise industrial performance and reduce costs.

Which entrepreneurial decision made in recent years are you particularly proud of?

The integration of machine learning technologies and advanced automation solutions to optimise machine settings and quality control represents a major milestone.

In addition, we are proud to offer a unique end-of-life solution for products manufactured on our machines: a recycling and processing system for complex plastic waste that can directly produce components from multi-materials without prior sorting, fully aligned with the principles of the circular economy.

The IPRA machine enables the recovery of multi-material plastic waste that is traditionally difficult to recycle (e.g. toothpaste tubes, pouches, bottle caps or composite packaging). The waste is shredded and then transformed into useful products such as posts, boards or poles, with practical applications including vineyard stakes, signage posts, pallets or garden furniture.

Your company has been a Gold member of S-GE for two years. What do you value most about your collaboration with Switzerland Global Enterprise?

As a Gold member of Switzerland Global Enterprise, AISA benefits from valuable support for its export activities in an increasingly complex and dynamic international regulatory environment.

Participation in the Swiss Pavilions organised and coordinated by S-GE at international trade fairs is particularly appreciated and strengthens our company’s international visibility and reach.
