Bcomp CEO and co-founder Christian Fischer was a keynote speaker at the International Trade Forum 2020, where he shared how his team is taking off internationally with sustainability and pioneering spirit.
Sustainable Innovation in the Automotive Industry Thanks to Bcomp
The automotive industry is under pressure. The European Union mandates significant reductions in CO2 emissions for their fleets. Additionally, the weight of passenger cars should be reduced. Weight savings can be achieved, for example, with innovative door interior panels made of natural fiber composites, such as those produced by Bcomp Ltd. in Fribourg. Bcomp is already collaborating with the automotive industry at various levels. In addition to manufacturers of interior and exterior panels, leading global companies in research and development are also involved. Bcomp's natural fiber products are also tested in satellites by the European Space Agency.

In 2018, a fact-finding mission led the pioneers to the English Motorsport Valley, organized by Switzerland Global Enterprise. Motorsport Valley is known as the most important development center for motorsport. Eight of the top ten Formula 1 teams are based there. During this business trip, the company was able to establish new contacts and deepen existing ones.
Recognition for pioneering spirit and sustainable innovation
On-site, Bcomp was able to showcase its products – and won the industry's prestigious award for the most innovative motorsport product of the year. Two months later, Bcomp was also honored with the "Autosport International Product Showcase Innovation Award." These awards would also demonstrate how motorsport is ready to reinvent itself, remain a leader in innovation, and attract new generations.
It may sound contradictory, but as an innovation platform for future mobility technologies, the motorsport industry plays an important role. Accordingly, it was very important for us to establish our innovative lightweight solution in this sector in order to integrate it into large-scale production.
