When SkyCell, a leader in temperature-controlled container solutions for the pharmaceutical industry, set its sights on expanding into Asia, it was more than a business decision — it was a strategic leap toward a new era of global healthcare logistics. With the support of Switzerland Global Enterprise (S-GE), SkyCell was able to build vital connections, raise brand awareness, and solidify its presence in the fast-evolving markets of Japan, Korea, and China.
As a Swiss scale-up, SkyCell had already established itself across Europe and the Americas. Expanding into the APAC region was the next natural step.
"Our clients and partners are based all around the world. APAC represented a tremendous opportunity to increase visibility and deepen trust with local pharmaceutical companies," Nathalie explains.
SkyCell’s innovative hybrid container technology — designed to recharge like an active system, but without plugs or the manual intervention required by traditional passive solutions — offers an unparalleled level of temperature stability. In a sector where a few degrees can mean the difference between a life-saving drug arriving potent or ineffective, SkyCell’s solution truly stands out.
"Our containers can maintain precise temperatures for up to 270 hours, regardless of whether you're shipping from the freezing winter of Switzerland to the scorching heat of Dubai," Nathalie highlights.

Event Manager at SkyCellEntering new markets comes with challenges: regulatory hurdles, cultural nuances, and the need for trusted connections. SkyCell found a strong ally in S-GE, particularly through the Swiss Business Hubs embedded within embassies.
"S-GE was instrumental. They helped us organize events at Swiss embassies, introduced us to key industry contacts, and supported us every step of the way," shares Nathalie.
The events, held in iconic venues like the Swiss Embassy in Tokyo, offered more than just networking opportunities — they symbolized credibility. The presence of Swiss ambassadors and business leaders created a prestigious backdrop that impressed potential partners and clients.
"In Asia, being invited to an event at the Swiss Embassy carries real weight. It opened a lot of doors for us," Nathalie notes.
SkyCell's team even overcame logistical hurdles with typical Swiss efficiency — arranging for their 379-kilogram containers to be flown in and carefully positioned, sometimes outside in courtyards when doors were too narrow.
SkyCell’s approach to cultural respect was crucial to its success. Working closely with local teams, the company ensured each event was adapted to local expectations — from meal formats to the decision of whether to serve alcohol.
"In APAC, every detail matters. Respecting cultural norms wasn’t just nice to have — it was essential for building trust," says Nathalie.
This tailored approach paid off. Events attracted between 30 to 50 high-profile industry guests, generating strong leads and deepening SkyCell’s footprint in the region.

Nathalie encourages other Swiss companies to think beyond borders — but with the right preparation and partners.
"Switzerland is a small market. If you want to grow, you must go international. But success abroad requires understanding local cultures, building strong partnerships, and doing your homework," she advises.
And when it comes to choosing a partner for global expansion?
"S-GE’s network, advice, and support were invaluable. I’d definitely recommend working with them — especially when stepping into complex markets like APAC."
