Wilco Automatische Testmaschine

Founded in 1971, WILCO AG develops inspection systems for leak testing and visual inspection of primary packaging for the pharmaceutical, biotech and medtech industries. Its systems identify the smallest leaks, defects or foreign bodies and thus contribute to the safety of sensitive products. The solutions are in use in over 80 countries. For further growth, WILCO is focusing on highly regulated markets as well as on global locations with expanding pharmaceutical production.

Sensitive medications, sterile diagnostic devices and medical products must be absolutely impermeable and free of impurities. Even the smallest defects in the primary packaging can jeopardize their sterility, shelf life and safety. WILCO AG from Wohlen, Canton of Aargau, therefore develops high-precision inspection systems for the pharmaceutical, biotech and medtech industries. With machine solutions for leak testing, the systems check packaging for the smallest leaks. In the field of visual inspection, camera and X-ray technology with AI-supported image processing is used to detect foreign bodies.

Founded in 1971, the company employs around 170 people. Its solutions are in use in over 80 countries.

Quality and experience as a competitive advantage

Among WILCO’s key competitive advantages are the durability of its machines, the combination of several test technologies in one system, patented innovations, comprehensive service and over 50 years of experience. The company is responding to increasing competitive pressure with a clear strategic focus on the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors. Accordingly, its inspection systems are consistently geared to the requirements of the international pharmaceutical market and its regulatory requirements. Its export share is over 95 percent.

Market-specific strategies

In order to meet the different requirements of individual markets, WILCO has built up a strong network of local sales and service partners. In the US market, the company also operates its own subsidiary. While Europe remains a core market, WILCO sees great potential in North America in particular, as well as in growth markets in Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

The company pursues a differentiated market strategy: in highly developed markets, it relies on technologically sophisticated high-end solutions, while for emerging markets, systems are developed that are adapted to local requirements. “In Japan, where particularly high inspection standards apply, we consistently rely on our technological superiority,” explains Christoph HerdlitschkaHead of Sales, Marketing and Product Management. “At the same time, we are providing targeted support for the expansion of local pharmaceutical production in growth markets in Asia, the Middle East and Africa.”

Strengthening its presence in core regions

In order to further strengthen its proximity to important markets, WILCO plans to expand its international presence. At the same time, the company is increasingly focusing on global growth locations for pharmaceutical production such as the USA, India, Korea, Brazil and Saudi Arabia. The company chooses to keep its own production in Switzerland, where it ensures the technological control and innovative strength of the company.

With its consistent export strategy and Swiss precision in international pharmaceutical markets, WILCO AG has qualified for the final round of the Export Award 2026.

In Japan, where particularly high inspection standards apply, we consistently rely on our technological superiority, At the same time, we are providing targeted support for the expansion of local pharmaceutical production in growth markets in Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
