What to expect:

The focus is on a fictional but practical court hearing on a strategically relevant case based on the UPC model. The procedure is based on real procedural steps: from the classification of the subject matter of the dispute to the pleadings and questions of the judge, right through to tactical considerations on both sides. The aim is to highlight typical pitfalls and make the practical handling of the new system comprehensible

Why participate?

This format makes the Unified Patent Court tangible: participants experience a UPC procedure at first hand and gain a rare insight into the new European patent court system. They see how arguments are developed, judicial questions are asked and legal and strategic aspects are weighed against each other. This makes it clear what factors can be decisive in practice.

Instead of a traditional specialist presentation, the format provides a practical insight into the key aspects of the new European patent system and the opportunities and risks it presents for companies. At the end, participants are also asked to vote on the verdict to be delivered and to compare their own assessment with that of the experts.
