Hungary's CHF 1.25 Billion Grid Offensive

Hungary's CHF 1.25 Billion Grid Offensive
31Aug 2026
16:00-17:00

Hungary has just opened one of Central Europe's largest energy tenders: over CHF 1.25 billion (HUF 500 billion) in non-repayable EU funding to modernise its electricity grid and roll out smart meters nationwide by 2030. The goal is ambitious – expanding grid capacity by 50 %, connecting more than 4,800 MW of new renewable generation, and equipping hundreds of thousands of households and businesses with smart metering infrastructure.

For Swiss suppliers, this is a rare window of opportunity. While only Hungarian DSOs and the transmission system operator MAVIR can apply for the funds, they will need proven international partners to deliver the technology, engineering and services behind the scenes. Switzerland's strengths – smart meters, medium- and high-voltage equipment, grid automation, DERMS and SCADA software, cables, and grid-integration consulting – match Hungary's needs almost one-to-one.

This webinar gives you a concise, practical overview:

What is being funded, and in which technology segments
Who the decision-makers are at Hungarian DSOs and MAVIR
When contracts will be awarded – and how to position now
How Swiss companies can enter as suppliers, subcontractors or technology partners
You will leave with a clear market picture and a realistic assessment of where your company fits into the value chain. Whether you are already active in Central Europe or exploring the region for the first time, this session helps you decide quickly whether Hungary's grid transformation is worth pursuing – and how to move fast, since the first procurement decisions are expected as early as autumn 2026.

Join us to turn Hungary's EU-funded grid offensive into a tangible business opportunity for your company.

Why participate?

Hungary has just launched one of Central Europe's largest EU-funded energy tenders: over CHF 1.25 billion for grid modernisation and nationwide smart meter deployment by 2030. For Swiss technology providers, this creates a rare, time-limited window – first procurement decisions are expected as early as autumn 2026.

This webinar is the fastest way to understand whether – and how – your company can benefit.

In one focused session, you will get:

  • First-hand market intelligence directly from the Swiss Business Hub Central Europe, including the political, regulatory and funding context most Swiss companies never see.
  • A clear map of the opportunity: which technology segments are funded (smart meters, MV/HV equipment, grid automation, SCADA/DERMS, cables, engineering services) and where Swiss strengths match Hungarian demand.
  • Access to the right decision-makers: who to approach at MAVIR and the Hungarian DSOs (E.ON Hungária, MVM Émász/Démász, Opus Titász), and how procurement typically works.
  • A realistic go-to-market view: entry routes as supplier, subcontractor or technology partner – including what has worked for Swiss companies already active in the region.
  • Direct dialogue with S-GE experts and, on request, follow-up 1:1 consultations to assess your specific case.
