Sustainable textile consultancy pielleitalia launches Swiss presence

Located within Neuchâtel’s Microcity, pielleswiss is pielleitalia's first sister company abroad. It will serve as the Italian group’s development arm, in charge of all commercial and R&D projects.

One of the solutions developed by pielleitalia, “Re-PET into apparel”, has already received the Efficient Solution Label by the Solar Impulse Foundation.

Founded in 1987 in Bergamo, Italy, as a traditional textile company, pielleitalia has quickly evolved into a renowned leader in sustainable and innovative textile solutions. Today, it provides high added-value strategic advisory services in the areas of sustainability and circular economy to some of the most important brands in the world, and facilitates cross-sectorial partnerships. Its clients include the likes of Solar Impulse, H55, Omega, Shell, ABB, and FIA.

pielleswiss will operate out of Microcity in Neuchâtel. Located in close proximity to higher education and research institutions such as EPFL, CSEM, UniNE, and HE-Arc, the Microcity PAM39 site offers 1000m2 of flexible working space and is designed to foster synergies and collaborative projects among innovation players.

Switzerland as a catalyst for sustainable innovations

“pielleswiss will focus on circular economy opportunities through public-private partnerships. One of our main goals is to develop sustainable innovations that are commercially scalable and readily implementable across the industry, and Switzerland provides the ideal context for taking on ambitious challenges, delivering continuous innovation and setting new benchmarks”, explains Giuseppe Pezzini, CEO.

One of the solutions developed by pielleitalia, “Re-PET into apparel”, has already received the Efficient Solution Label by the Solar Impulse Foundation, which awards efficient, clean and profitable solutions with a positive impact on environment and quality of life. “Re-PET into apparel” focuses on transforming used plastic bottles into new apparel in recycled polyester, thus reducing waste and CO2 emissions.

The Swiss company will be supported by the Bergamo-based team, who will carry on their manufacturing role handling all design, product development and supply chain matters. pielleswiss will commercialize merchandise, uniforms, bespoke clothing and accessories under both the pielleitalia and Stjx brands, and will strengthen pielleitalia’s market leadership in sustainable textile consultancy.
