According to a press release, Schindler has received a large order from Saudi Arabia, within which it will deliver a total of 150 elevators and escalators for the Masar city development project in Mecca. These will be used in the project’s earliest development phase. According to Schindler, they are for a multipurpose building with hotels, restaurants, and businesses. The building’s total area will span 1.2 million square meters.

Schindler’s elevators and escalators will also be used to transport people and goods. The 150 units include 44 Schindler 7000 elevators, which are installed using Schindler’s Robotic Installation System for Elevators (R.I.S.E). This can be run autonomously and for example drill holes for anchor bolts and place these. This is the first time it will be used in Saudi Arabia.

Against the backdrop of this project, Schindler is also expanding its partnership with Umm Al Qura for Development & Construction with headquarters in Jeddah.
