Principal

Switzerland Global Enterprise (S-GE) works on behalf of the Confederation and the cantons to promote strong Swiss foreign trade and prosperity in Switzerland.

• The State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) commissions S-GE to undertake export promotion, particularly for SMEs.
• Liechtenstein’s Office of Economic Affairs instructs S-GE to support Liechtenstein exporters.

• SECO and the cantons also mandate S-GE to promote Switzerland abroad as a business location.

   

Swiss Business Hubs

S-GE has its own teams (Swiss Business Hubs, SBHs) in approximately 45 countries. The Swiss Business Hubs are integrated into the diplomatic missions of the Federal Department for Foreign Affairs (FDFA).  In many other countries, S-GE has a presence via the respective Swiss diplomatic missions or its own partner network. The FDFA, which oversees all Swiss embassies and consulates, is S-GE’s most important contractual partner, alongside the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO.

Service providers and experts for internationally active companies

S-GE’s network of various private export service providers in Switzerland and abroad plays a crucial role in supporting companies. Be they export or customs experts, specialized law firms or business consultants, marketing agencies or industry specialists, they offer SMEs highly specific assistance with their international business.

Chambers of commerce and industry associations

S-GE maintains close relationships with roughly 30 bilateral chambers of commerce around the globe and with all the cantonal chambers of industry and commerce. In turn, this provides Swiss and Liechtenstein SMEs with a close-knit network of contacts for their international business. In addition, S-GE actively cooperates with Swiss industry associations and pools the available expertise for companies’ benefit.

Institutional partners and universities

S-GE also works with other institutional partners such as SERV, Presence Switzerland, Switzerland Tourism, Innosuisse and the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) and its Swissnex network so it can unlock synergies.

Its network additionally encompasses various universities and research institutes within Switzerland that explore the internationalization of companies.

Regional economic development organizations

As part of its investment promotion work, S-GE collaborates with the regional organizations of the cantons, the BaselArea, the Greater Geneva Bern Area, the Greater Zurich Area and the St.GallenBodenseeArea, as well as with all 26 cantons.

Swiss foreign trade community

The Swiss foreign trade community is an open ecosystem focused on promoting export from Switzerland. Organizations that support internationally active Swiss companies with their internationalization efforts are very welcome to join.
