Swiss manufacturing, biotech industry so far unfazed by geopolitics

A new Swiss Biotech Association report suggests Switzerland’s pharma manufacturing and exports kept gaining ground in 2025, even as tariff threats lingered in the background. Immunology-related exports, including areas like vaccines and cell therapies, were highlighted as a key driver of growth.

Industry voices note the longer-term picture is less certain. If more production capacity is built in the US, the consequences for Switzerland may only become visible over several years, given how long it takes to develop new manufacturing sites. At the same time, Switzerland’s talent base, established CDMO footprint, and broader life sciences ecosystem continue to support activity and investment in the sector.
