A project that has been taking shape for several years and representing an investment of CHF 409 million, the new Innovation Park of the Energypolis campus in Sion is an innovation ecosystem bringing together the expertise of EPFL Valais WallisHES-SO and The Ark Foundation.

The Innovation Park will provide workspaces, infrastructures and scientific equipment to start-ups and companies while bringing them together to promote synergies.

"This Innovation Park is consistent with the economic development of Valais and is a real source of opportunities for the entire canton’s economic fabric," explains Christophe Darbellay, head of the canton's Department of Economy and Education.

Two leading companies already established

Two companies have already moved to the new premises of the Innovation Park. Natron Energy is working on a technology that is unique in the world in the field of batteries. "By using Prussian blue, these batteries are cheaper, more durable, more efficient and more environmentally friendly," explains Colin Wessells, CEO of Natron Energy. The company plans to set up two production and assembly lines for its technology on the Sion site by 2022.

Start-up H55 has created a new electric propulsion technology to make air travel cleaner, quieter, more accessible and more sustainable. "Thanks to its joining Energypolis, H55 will accelerate its growth through partnerships with institutions and companies from the canton of Valais," explains its CEO André Borschberg.
