Datwyler has opened its new Technology and Innovation Labs (T&I Labs) in Schattdorf in the canton of Uri, not far from its headquarters in Altdorf. This will drive the development of breakthrough, innovative products and also the improvement of existing products. The company focuses on the manufacture of high-quality elastomer components.
Datwyler’s customers will also gain advantages from the new laboratories, as they can “find the ideal solution for their problem or co-engineer an entirely new product together with us,” explained Dr Luciane Klafke, Head of Mixing and Lab Technologies, in a press release. “This not only makes the integration time shorter, but it also means the feedback loop is much faster, enhancing speeds-to-market for our customers.”
The amount invested in the T&I Labs has not been disclosed. Only last year, Datwyler responded to the ten-year contract concluded with Nespresso at the end of 2020 and the growing demand for more sustainable coffee capsules: The company invested around 30 million Swiss francs in new production facilities at its plant in Schattdorf. With a network comprising more than 20 operating companies and sales in over 100 countries, Datwyler currently has around 7,000 employees.
