The Swiss medical technology company Symbios Orthopédie continues its expansion on the Y-PARC site with the construction of a new 12,000 square meter factory entirely designed and tailored to the needs of the leader in orthopedic hip and knee implants.

At a cost of more than CHF 50 million, this new state-of-the-art building will become the company's headquarters. It will also significantly increase the latter's production capacity.

Symbios has been present on the Y-PARC site in Yverdon-les-Bains (canton of Vaud) since 2007, and the construction of its new plant should be completed by the end of 2021. The company hopes to double its sales and workforce within the next five years, from 150 to 300 people.

Juliana Pantet, Director of Y-PARC Swiss Technopole SA says she is "happy to be able to support and accompany companies when their needs evolve. This is an important advantage of being the largest technology park in Switzerland : with more than 50 hectares, we can offer great flexibility to our residents."

"The desire to stay at Y-PARC comes first of all from the fact that we feel good here. The park is booming and we see a real development of the services offered, which makes our everyday life easier. Y-PARC's ecosystem also facilitates the attraction of trained and specialized talent, notably with the proximity of the HEIG-VD's R&D institutes. Finally, its location continues to appeal to us. The city of Yverdon is ideally located between Lausanne and Bern, at the heart of what is known as the Health Valley, a prestigious center of competence for the global medical industry," explains Mr. Florent Plé, Director of Symbios Orthopedics.
