Acutronic's Simulation & Test Division is the world leader in the development, design and manufacture of inertial navigation systems and hardware-in-the-loop motion simulators. These high-precision motion simulators are used in the aerospace, defense, automotive, and consumer electronics industries to test and calibrate inertial sensors (e.g., gyroscopes and accelerometers that measure motion); inertial navigation systems; stabilized electro-optical systems; electronic stability control systems; and missile in-flight mission scenarios. Systems include single- and multi-axis motion simulators, flight motion simulators, and target motion simulators.

Acutronic's Aerospace Components Division designs and manufactures specialty components for use in unmanned and optionally manned aircraft. These products are used in next-generation aerospace programs and include a range of power generation systems, servo actuators, microturbines and hybrid electric propulsion systems. Acutronic Aerospace offers standard products and excels in developing highly customized solutions for demanding mission requirements.

Questions to Florian Aigrain, Group CEO of Acutronic:

On which inspiration or idea is your company based?
Acutronic Group has a proud history of building and investing in technologies and teams that are critical to the aerospace, defense, and transportation industries. Our mission is to grow the Acutronic Group in a long-term, sustainable and thoughtful manner.

Which are your most important export markets and why?
We are mainly active in the aerospace industry. Our most important market is therefore the USA. Most of the products we sell in the USA are manufactured locally in the USA. For Acutronic in Switzerland, our most important export markets are Germany and India. Germany has a large automotive industry. India has many domestic aerospace programs.

What positive or negative surprises have you already encountered in export? What are your biggest challenges at the moment?
Most of the products we sell are subject to export control licenses. This causes high administrative costs for a medium-sized company and in case of geopolitical changes, access to markets can close or open quickly.

What are you particularly proud of?
In 2019, we opened a branch office in Hyderabad, India. Today, this location is successfully integrated into our activities in Switzerland and Germany. This required a lot of management effort and the goodwill of many team members. We are very proud of this success.

To what extent did S-GE help you succeed?
S-GE was a helpful partner for us in India. They helped us to set up our local company in India, to create our local employee handbook and to conduct background checks for our new employees. We thank Beat Ineichen and Deepti Sharma for their help.
