Toronto – fastest growing tech hub in North America

The city of Toronto is home to tech giants such as Microsoft, Google, Facebook, IBM, Cisco, Twitter and Amazon. Many companies are drawn to the city because of the large pool of available tech talent and its tech ecosystem that is growing faster than anywhere else in North America. The city is now home to the third largest tech hub in North America and has become North America’s fastest growing tech hub. According to CBRE (Coldwell Banker Richard Ellis), the city has added 82’100 tech jobs between 2012 and 2017. This is also thanks to a tech friendly immigration system, as some of the more specialized talent cannot be sourced locally. The city has created an exciting tech ecosystem with a strong reputation in AI, Fintech, Cleantech and Medtech.

The following facts and figures illustrate Toronto’s leading role in the tech space:

  • houses the 3rd largest tech sector in North America
  • home to over 18’000 tech companies
  • over 400’000 people working in the tech industry
  • home to MaRS, North America’s largest urban innovation hub

Collision – Enercare Centre, Toronto, June 22-25, 2020

Taking all this into consideration, it comes as no surprise that last year the organizers of Collision decided to move the conference from New Orleans to Toronto for three years starting in 2019. This decision was also made thanks to considerable support from various levels of government in Canada.

Collision is the fastest-growing tech conference in North America. For 2020 the organizers anticipate:

  • 30,000+ attendees.
  • 1300 startups +
  • 1,300 media
  • 900 speakers +
  • 1,100 investors
  • 100 + trade delegations

Collision is divided into the following 18 tracks: AutoTech, binate.io, ContentMakers, CorporateInnovationSummit, FullSTK, FutureSocieties, growthsummit, healthConf., MoneyConf, PandaConf, planet:tech, Q&A, SaaS Monster, SportsTrade, StartupUniversity, TalkRobot, Venture, and nightSummit.

Last year the show included a long list of celebrity speakers and visionaries: for example Adi Tatarko, Co-founder & CEO of Houzz, Timbaland. Producer & Artist at Mosley Music Group, or Tobias Lütke, CEO at Shopify, just to name a few.

Here is why you should attend:

  • Promote your business to potential clients, investors and partners: There are over 30,000 attendees at Collision who are interested in discovering innovative technology. In 2019, over 65% of attendees were founders, c-level executives or at the VP/director level, so you’ll be sure that you are talking to decision makers.
  • Review your business strategy: The show is a great place to learn from innovators in the tech space, whether it be global tech leaders or high-potential startups. What’s more you can compare your offerings with what’s already out in the market and do some research.
  • Network with leaders in the tech industry and learn more about the Canadian and North American tech ecosystem: The show is an ideal platform to exchange ideas with others in your field and to expand your network.

The show should be on your top priority list if you are working in advertising, enterprise software solutions, fintech, AI & machine learning, entertainment and media, eCommerce and retail as well or legal & consultancy.
