With over 50 billion connected devices by 2020, over 14 trillion US$ economic value creation by 2022, and major gains in efficiency for the industry and public administrations, the Internet of Things (IoT) is expected to be the next major technological wave. Therefore, companies need specialists in this field to support the digital evolution of their activities.
Starting this autumn, a Master of Advanced Studies in the Internet of Things will be offered jointly by the University of Geneva (UNIGE) and the IoT Forum. “The aim of this course is to cover all the topics related to the Internet of Things, from emerging technologies to security and data protection, allowing professionals to learn from top European experts from the research and industry”, explains Sébastien Ziegler, President of the IoT Forum. Every year, this Geneva-based entity organizes the IoT Week, the world's largest conference on the Internet of Things.
Learning to innovate
The Internet of Things concerns most economic sectors and will be the main source of innovation for businesses and public administrations in the years to come. This new course will provide active professionals with a global overview of the current issues, opportunities, and strategies in the IoT field. It will be taught by professors and experts recognized at the European level. Topics to be covered include cybersecurity, data protection, emerging technologies, management platforms, communication networks and standards, business models and application domains.
