After Houston and Singapore, Geneva will be HPE's third IoT (Internet of Things) center in the world. Located in a new building owned by the multinational in Meyrin, it will allow manufacturers to test new solutions, discover how they can digitize their processes and conduct tests with HPE's engineers.
"The aim is to attract partners from all over Europe here to deploy our IoT solutions even faster", explains Carlo Giorgi, HPE's Director for Switzerland.
A new startup incubator
"The ties between the multinational and the canton have remained extremely strong," says Daniel Loeffler, Deputy Secretary General of the Cantonal Department of Security and Economy. "The multinational continues to invest here and is now doing even more than that by launching an incubator for startups. This strengthens the innovation ecosystem we are creating in the region and establishes bridges with what is being done nearby in CERN.”
The Internet of Things is expanding worldwide. All objects, from cars to machine tools, refinery pipes and aircraft components are becoming connected. The American research company Gartner estimates that by 2020, more than 20 billion objects will be connected to the Internet.
