As a member of the Switzerland Innovation Park Network West EPFL, the Energypolis campus continues to grow in order to position Switzerland and Valais as world leaders in innovation.

Thanks to the canton of Valais parliament's favourable decision to grant a CHF 25 million loan to the project, the Energypolis campus will have its own innovation park, a regional branch of the EPFL Innovation Park, at its disposal from the beginning of 2022.

The aim of this project is to provide workspaces, scientific infrastructures and equipment as well as access to the innovation ecosystem for start-ups on campus and the research units of large companies.

Strengthening technology transfer in the canton of Valais

The Valais innovation park plans to welcome Natron Energy, a Californian start-up, and H55, a spin-off of Solar Impulse, two companies active in the field of renewable energies.

Natron Energy develops new batteries using electrodes based on Prussian blue and is already working closely with Lonza. The production and assembly site for its technology will be located in Sion. The start-up will also collaborate with the EPFL for the optimization of its technology and with the HES-SO Valais-Wallis for the optimization of its industrial processes.

H55, currently operating from the Sion airport site and supported by The Ark Foundation, is creating a new electric propulsion technology to make air transport cleaner, safer, quieter and more accessible.
