Mohawk, based in the US State of Georgia and, according to information from the company itself, the world’s largest flooring manufacturer, has opened a center of excellence for procurement in Lucerne. In this way, the company is seeking to expand its footprint in the German-speaking DACH (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) region, further details of which can be found in a press release. With its central location, Lucerne offers favorable opportunities to optimally structure and exploit all supply chains in terms of the movement of goods and services, as the press release states.
Mohawk has already started to recruit employees in the local area in order to build the team for its new center of excellence. This is, however, an ongoing process that will be continued until all positions have been filled, as Mohawk writes in the press release.
Mohawk sells its products in 170 countries around the world, with around 30 percent of sales attributable to Europe. The company’s products range from ceramic tiles to wood and parquet flooring, as well as vinyl products and carpets. Some of Mohawk’s best-known brands include Marazzi, Ragno, EmilGroup, Kai, Quick-Step, Pergo, Moduleo, Unilin Panels und Unilin Insulation.
