Schindler MetaCore has won the Award of Excellence 2023 from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. The award is presented at the organization’s eponymous conference, where Schindler is set to present its new, reprogrammable lift system. The conference is taking place October 16-21 in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. Schindler, the global manufacturer of vertical mobility solutions based in Ebikon in the canton of Lucerne, is a Platinum Sponsor of the event, which this year carries the motto Humanizing High Density – People, Nature & the Urban Realm. In this context, the focus is on socially acceptable densification of urban living spaces.
MetaCore is an innovative solution for repurposing buildings. “Considering the environmental impact, time to market, and investment costs, the most sustainable approach to urban construction evolution is to reuse buildings that already exist”, writes Schindler in a press release. Architects, project developers and building owners can use the range of services, products and easily reprogrammable elevator systems offered on this platform to develop solutions that seamlessly combine life, leisure and work at one single location.
Given that there is no need for any demolition or new construction activities, the CO2 footprint is also reduced. “Mixed-use developments have many advantages. One of the biggest is that reusing what we already have is the most sustainable approach to change”, comments Florian Trösch, Head of Transit Management & Digital Solutions at Schindler, in the press release.
