Using 13 indicators, the Times Higher Education (THE) Ranking evaluates the top 100 universities worldwide which are under 50 years old. Besides the international outlook and research focus the educational institutions are analyzed by citations, industry income and teaching. For the first time this year, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL)is leading this international ranking followed by four young universities in South Korea (2 and 3), Hong Kong (4) and Singapore (5). One part of this immense success can be put down to the EPFL’s high score in the international outlook (98.8%) and their general focal points on education, research and technology transfer.
When it comes to specific Masters programs worldwide, the Master of Arts in Strategy and International Management of the University of St. Gallen has topped the Financial Times Ranking for the fifth time in a row.
Along the side of EPFL and the University of St. Gallen, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) is also a leading player in education and research among international competitors. According to the QS World University Rankings 2015/16 the Swiss university now belongs to the top 10 for the first time in history – among exclusively British and US American elite universities. Additionally, the EPFL climbs up 3 ranks and is ranked 14th.
