Avallain, the software specialist for education applications based in Teufen in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden, has acquired TeacherMatic, a company which focuses on the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI). As detailed in an article published by startupticker.ch, Avallain will seek to use this acquisition to strengthen its competencies in the application of AI in learning and testing programs at leading educational institutions across Europe. In particular, this should lead to significant progress in relation to applications including Avallain Author and the company’s Learning Management System.
The London-based firm TeacherMatic will bring its AI toolsets for educators to the table in connection with joint development activities. In parallel with this acquisition, Avallain has also announced the official launch of Avallain Labs, which was first founded in 2023. This will not only be responsible for developing new products, but shall also be tasked with looking into the ethical justifiability of AI applications in the education sector.
