Obwaldner Kantonalbank (OKB) has acquired real estate in Sarnen Nord from Sika Manufacturing AG. According to a press release, this includes an industrial building, an undeveloped plot of land, and an office building under leasehold (Baurecht). OKB is now reviewing the various options for possible developments. It is likely that new residential buildings and commercial premises will be created.

Chairman of the Board Daniel Dillier commented: “We want to upgrade, revitalize, and increase the attractiveness of the region of Sarnen Nord. Acquiring these three properties has presented us with huge opportunities.” Dillier sees this initiative as a “generational project”. He adds that sustainable development of the area will take time.

The three items of real estate that have been bought are located close to the headquarters of OKB, which was newly opened in August 2021 after around two years of construction. The ground-breaking ceremony for the Qubo project, which is also situated in Sarnen Nord, took place in November 2021. OKB is involved in this as a partner. Qubo plans to create a new location for innovation, entrepreneurship, and cross-sector collaboration at the headquarters of Eberli AG. The first phase will be ready for occupancy in fall 2023.
