According to a press release, Bartholet Maschinenbau AG has produced the first fully automatic garaging ropeway in China. The installation is in Nalati, a popular tourist area located to the west of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in northwest China. The press release explains that the fully automated ropeway means staff no longer need to park and unpark the gondalas, saving time and money for everyone.

The gondolas themselves travel between altitudes of 1,400 and 2,000 meters. Bartholet says the installation features eight-seater gondolas designed by the Porsche Design Studio, and can carry up to 1,500 passengers per hour. The press release describes the gondola station as “a sight to behold”.

Nalati is situated at an average altitude of around 2,200 meters and offers “stunning” mountain and valley views. “Nalati, Nalati” means “there is the sun” in Chinese. According to the press release, it is one of China’s most beautiful mountain and grassland regions. It is comparable with famous destinations such as the Pampas in South America, which extend in a large arc around the Río de la Plata and cover large swathes of Argentina, all of Uruguay and a small area of southeastern Brazil, or the Hulunbuir and Xilingol Grasslands in Inner Mongolia.

Bartholet Maschinenbau AG, which is based in Flums in the St.GallenBodenseeArea, specializes in ropeway systems, amusement parks, mechanical engineering and lighting systems. The company says it has more than 450 employees.
