Dottikon ES to build new production plant

Dottikon ES is building a new chemical production plant for pharmaceutical active ingredients. To achieve this, an investment in the amount of 275 million Swiss francs is envisaged. Moreover, 100 new jobs are to be created in the coming two years overall.

Dottikon Exclusive Synthesis AG believes that it is “well-positioned to exploit the emerging growth potential”. According to a press release, plans for the construction of warehouses for raw materials, intermediate products and active ingredients are being advanced. In addition, the Board of Directors has now approved the construction of a new multi-purpose chemical production facility for pharmaceutical active ingredients. This project is expected to cost a total of 275 million Swiss francs. Moreover, the company has also set its sights on increasing the staff complement at the Dottikon site from a current level of 630 full-time employees (FTEs) by creating an additional 100 jobs over the coming two years

In the first half of the 2020/21 financial year, net sales at the manufacturer of pharmaceutical active ingredients, top quality intermediate products and high-performance chemicals for the chemicals and pharma industries reached a level of 91.8 million Swiss francs. In comparison with the same period in the previous year, this equates to a plus of 17.8 percent. “This is the result of broad-based growth diversified over several market-approved, patent-protected products of different customers”, according to Dottikon ES. “Growth was mainly unaffected by COVID-19 and will continue”, the company adds.

Net profit totaled 21.1 million Swiss francs, rising by 36.9 percent versus the comparison period. The average number of employees rose over the same period by 5.9 percent. Cashflow from operating activities increased by 28.8 million Swiss francs to total 46.3 million Swiss francs. As a result, cash and cash equivalents stood at 66.6 million Swiss francs as at the end of the reporting period. The equity ratio amounted to 80.3 percent.
