Impact Acoustic AG has won the Central Switzerland Startup Entrepreneur Award from Lucerne-based company Gewerbe-Treuhand AG. According to a press release, the award with prize money of 10,000 Swiss francs was handed over for the 28th time on Tuesday, September 6, at the Messe Luzern trade fair. It recognizes the risk appetite and engagement of new and innovative SMEs.

Impact Acoustic AG, which was founded in 2019 and is located in Lucerne, was honored for its acoustic absorbers made from recycled plastic bottles. Its partition walls and lights improve the acoustics of an area. The company uses recycled single-use plastic bottles during production. One square meter of Archisonic, a sound-absorbing felt, is made from 88 PET plastic bottles.

According to the press release, the company already has 76 employees. An article in the “Luzerner Zeitung” states that the startup’s two founders, Sven Erni and Jeffrey Ibanez, were not able to attend the awards ceremony. They are in the Philippines to set up a subsidiary.

The jury had nominated five startups for the award: Cerasus from Steinen in the canton of Schwyz, which is active in the special machine construction sector, the sauce producer Chipeño from Horw in Lucerne, the robotic lawn mower company Ronovatec from Immensee in Schwyz, and the Varia Group from Baar in Zug, which comprises the detergent manufacturer Washo, among other companies.
