Von Roll in the canton of Solothurn has won an international tender. According to a press release from the expert for electrical insulation systems from Breitenbach, ACC – “one of the most notable battery start-ups in Europe” – decided in favor of the Shield T product family. These innovative cell separator elements are used for the thermal management and fire protection of its batteries. Both play a key role in increasing the performance of modern batteries.

ACC, based in the French commune of Bruges, mainly operates in France and Germany. It is a joint venture of three major corporations: the European automotive manufacturer StellantisMercedes-Benz AG from Stuttgart and Saft, a wholly owned subsidiary of the French oil company Total Energies. The consortium was founded in 2018 and is backed by the Federal Ministry of Economics and the EU’s Important Project of Common European Interest. At the request of French President  Emmanuel Macron, ACC is dubbed to become the “Airbus of batteries”. By 2030, ACC plans to produce one million accumulators for the automotive industry.

“We are very proud of our new Shield T‑41 product family and convinced, that it will provide a crucial advantage for the development and the production of innovative, high-performance batteries at ACC,” explained Von Roll CEO Dr Christian Hennerkes. The market promises “huge potential for future growth”.
