Switzerland Innovation Park Innovaare in Villigen in the canton of Aargau is setting up a new competence center for high-tech equipment. To do so, it is working with its two members, the Paul Scherrer Institute and VDL Enabling Technologies Group.
According to a press release, this initiative will form an innovative industry and R&D cluster at Innovation Park Innovaare. It will exploit the cross-sector synergies between the deep tech fundamental research at PSI and the engineering capabilities of VDL ETG and aims to provide fundamental technologies on an industrial scale to the members of the park and the entire ecosystem. The initial focus is on applications in semiconductor metrology, inspection, and analytics as well as optical communications.
Park Innovaare’s CEO Robert Rudolph commented: “Having VDL ETG as a member at Park Innovaare is a great kick-off to nourish our growing ecosystem.” Ton Pejnenburg, CTO at VDL ETG, stated: “Park Innovaare, as a top Deep-Tech innovation hub, is instrumental for us in achieving our objectives in developing next generations of high-tech modules for application in semiconductor manufacturing, analytical instrumentation and satellite technology. It provides access to the crossroads between the fundamental science at PSI and its application by the various industrial partners.”
Park Innovaare is one of five Switzerland Innovation locations and focuses on the innovation areas of accelerator technologies, advanced materials & processes, humans & health, and energy.
