The high-tech industry in the Canton of Bern is welcoming a new heavyweight arrival: Welle Laser Technology, the Brazilian market leader manufacturer of laser machines, has chosen Biel/Bienne for its European headquarters. The city will also host a production unit and an R&D center. According to a press release of the Canton of Berne, at least 25 new jobs will be created over the next four years.
Founded in 2008 in Palhoça, Brazil, Welle Laser Technology is a fast-growing company specialized in laser marking and laser engraving solutions. It works in close cooperation with global leaders in laser technology such as the Fraunhofer Institute in Germany and has pioneered the development of laser coding and solutions for industrial traceability. Its clients include Bosch, ABB, General Electric and Mahle.
The Greater Geneva Berne area, the Bern Economic Development Office and Switzerland Global Enterprise provided free assistance and support throughout the establishment process.
