Scotland and Switzerland are both leaders in space technology. The Scottish space sector is one of the fastest growing in Europe, aiming to grow in value to £4 billion by 2030. Glasgow manufactures more satellites than any other city in Europe and the Bayes Centre is the University of Edinburgh's innovation hub for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. The University is furthermore a founding member of the SPRINT Programme and the chair of the Scottish Space Academics Forum.
Switzerland has been an integral and active partner in the European space adventure since its inception - it is a founding member of the European Space Agency (ESA). Switzerland’s two federal institutes of technology (ETHZ and EPFL) are known for being centres of excellence in space technologies, research, education and innovation.
For this reason, as part of our 'Switzerland in the UK Tour', the Swiss Business Hub UK & Ireland is organizing a networking event in Scotland at the beginning of June in order to connect Scottish and Swiss space stakeholders with each other. This should help identify opportunities for UK FDI investors and R&D collaborations with the Swiss ecosystem and serve as technology scouting.
