Fanpictor was hired by Coca-Cola to create an app that fans can download onto their smartphones. Each fan could then participate in the light show by holding their smartphone in the air. The app turned each fan into an individual pixel in the light show, which was also synced to live music.
Visitors could also download the show in real-time onto their smartphones and share it on social media platforms. As a ‘thank you’ for participating, the app allowed fans to save a Coca-Cola coupon directly to their digital wallets. In this way, the Zurich-based technology helped the U.S. beverage giant to strengthen its social media presence and increase sales.
“We are delighted to have earned the trust of an iconic brand like Coca-Cola,” Fanpictor CEO Stephan Schürer said in a statement.
Founded in 2012, Fanpictor makes software that allows fans to compile digital content that can later be streamed into stadiums in front of thousands of spectators. Differing widely, the content could be logos, pictures or alternating texts. The app can also create light shows, as was done with Coca-Cola
