Simedis succeeded in raising 5 million Swiss francs in a financing round, reports startupticker.ch. The startup from the St.GallenBodenseeArea develops surgical simulators based on virtual reality, which are designed to increase patient safety and shorten medical training. The goal is to sell the equipment to physicians, hospitals and universities around the world. The proceeds from the current financing round will be used to further develop the company.

“Over the next two years we will double our team to almost 30 employees, allowing us to meet market demand much faster. We are very pleased to have reached this important milestone in our company’s short history and look towards the future with great confidence,” said CEO Matijas Cosic.

Founded in 2014, Simedis AG won the Young Entrepreneur Award from the St.Galler Kantonalbank (SGKBStartfeldDiamant back in June. A decisive factor for the jury was the startup’s commitment to its location. Simedis would like to continue its work at the interface between medtech and IT in St.Gallen and benefit from the collaboration with the Cantonal Hospital St.Gallen.
