HSR expands medtech portfolio

The University of Applied Sciences Rapperswil (HSR) has set up a MedTech Lab. As a competence centre for the medical technology sector, it will help users and manufacturers apply the latest technology and bring products in line with market requirements.

The HSR has amalgamated its medical technology portfolio. Its new MedTech Lab is designed to be a central point of contact for users and manufacturers, according to a statement. It can help initiate new projects, bring products in line with market requirements and use the latest technology practically.

“We wanted to ensure that the HSR’s existing interdisciplinary skills were optimally combined and made available in a project-based way,” commented Agathe Koller, Lab Director and Professor of Mechatronics and Automation at the HSR, in the statement. “At the same time, we are expanding and complementing these skills with sector-specific know-how.”

Her deputy, Silvia Rohner, highlighted that the new lab would offer technology transfer, networking and regulatory consulting in this highly regulated sector.

On September 19, the HSR is hosting a workshop on safety in medical products.
