Sarnen gains indoor drive-in cinema

A new drive-in cinema will open in Sarnen at the start of December. Unlike normal drive-in cinemas, screenings in Sarnen will be put on in a giant hall.

The indoor drive-in cinema in Sarnen will screen a series of movies from December 2 to December 13. The hall on Kägiswilerstrasse is heated and offers enough space for numerous cars. Sound will be transmitted via the car radio, and the restaurants Jordan and Medusa as well as the Hotel Krone nearby will combat thirst and hunger by selling food and drink to take away.

Pascal Häller, Co-owner of the Sarnen-based architecture firm Burch und Partner, and Ruedi Müller, Organizer of Oldtimer in Obwalden (O-iO), are the organizers of this project. Their indoor drive-in cinema is a first for Switzerland according to an article from the Luzerner Zeitung.

The first movie being screened on December 2 is “Trolls World Tour”. Tickets can be bought online, as they can for the other movies. The basic offer starts at a car with one person and goes up to a minibus with over five people. Children under twelve years of age enjoy free entry.
