maxon motor and Thömus have become partners in cross-country cycling. Together, they want to build an electric mountain bike for the World Cup training of their Thömus maxon team, which includes Mathias Flückiger, winner of the Mountain Bike Overall World Cup 2021 and an Olympic silver medal. They also plan to make this bike available to the retail trade in the future.

“We are placing Swiss technology at the heart of the partnership. We want to promote cross-functional cooperation between World Cup cyclists and development teams on both sides,” said Eugen Elmiger, CEO of the maxon Group, in a press release from his company. “This enables us to further optimize our e-bike drives and make the know-how available to all customers.”

According to Thomas Binggeli, founder and owner of Thömus AG, Thömus has the ambition of building “the best and lightest electric XC mountain bike for World Cup training” based on maxon’s e-bike drives. “For us, the cooperation with the team and the new technology partnership with maxon are strong pillars in the innovation process.”
