INTEGRA Biosciences is building a new production facility at its headquarters in Zizers in the canton of Graubünden that will rank among “the most modern of its kind in south-east Switzerland”, further details of which can be found in a press release issued by the global technology firm that forms part of  INTEGRA Holding. In future, the company, which specializes in the production of innovative pipette solutions and lab products, will realize more than half of its global production volume in Zizers. From here, the company will be able to supply “the whole of Europe and large parts of the Asian market”.

A topping-out ceremony was celebrated on December 8. The construction work for this “flagship project” has been in progress for more than a year now, although everything remains on schedule, INTEGRA Biosciences explains in the press release. As early as next spring, a cleanroom should be ready for occupancy as part of the first expansion stage of the project, which comes at an overall cost of 100 million Swiss francs. The cleanroom will house injection molding machines and automation systems. Completion of the warehouse, office space and staff cafeteria is planned for the end of 2023. “Until then, however, there is still a lot on the agenda - both in terms of the construction project itself and recruiting new employees”, explains Urs Hartmann, CEO of INTEGRA Biosciences, in the press release.

A second phase is scheduled to begin in 2028. Overall, INTEGRA Biosciences plans to expand its headquarters in Zizers to create a new campus covering an area of 30,000 square meters. There will be a focus on structural flexibility and workplace quality as well as energy efficiency and sustainability when it comes to furnishings and installations at the new production facility. This includes a photovoltaic system of around 3,000 square meters. “The current situation in particular confirms that we are on the right track with our internal sustainability program and our new energy-efficient building”, says Hartmann.
