Commodity trading gains in importance in Lugano

This importance was recently confirmed by the Swiss Federal Council itself. Thanks to its geographic location both within Switzerland and close to central-southern Europe, Ticino is becoming a new and important platform for companies active in commodity trading. More and more international companies are moving to this Swiss canton, where they can count on the important support of cantonal institutions and local associations. Lugano is proving to be an ideal location for companies active in commodity trading, shipping, insurance and finance.

To provide further incentives for companies active in commodity trading to establish themselves and find highly qualified personnel, umbrella organizations Lugano Commodity Trading Association (LCTA) and Zug Commodity Association (ZCA) have started working with Lucerne’s University of Applied Sciences and Art, the aim being to offer a specific degree. The envisaged degree leading to a CAS degree for commodity professionals, the commitment to create the proper framework conditions and the stability of the country will allow a very promising field to grow in future, too.
