The canton of Uri has been a member of the Greater Zurich Area (GZA) since 2016, a relationship that offers advantages to both the location promotion organisation and the canton. While Uri benefits from GZA’s international presence and network, GZA’s existing portfolio is complemented by a canton with an attractive location along the north-south axis as well as its on-the-ground expertise and available commercial and industrial areas.

30 business and location promotion specialists are meeting in Andermatt from Monday to Wednesday to discuss how to further encourage foreign companies to relocate to the Greater Zurich region, writes GZA in a statement. Emphasis will be placed on the key markets of the US, China, Germany and Italy, discussing new ideas, and helping location promotion specialists from the other GZA cantons better understand the locational advantages of the canton of Uri.

“Uri’s government is proud that the canton of Uri is allowed to host the GZA retreat in its first year as a member,” said Urban Camenzind, government councillor and economic director of the canton of Uri. He, too, believes that both sides benefit from Uri’s membership in GZA.
