Aeler Technologies unveils its container of the future

Vaud-based start-up Aeler has unveiled its revolutionary smart logistics container, which features an increased payload, better aerodynamics, all-insulated construction, and smart, real-time tracking technology.

Aeler's container
The official launch of the AELER Unit One is scheduled for November 2021, and the delivery of the first 1’000 units by the end of Q2 2022.

Based in Ecublens (canton of Vaud), start-up Aeler Technologies has developed the next-generation smart container for efficiency, cargo protection, supply chain intelligence and sustainability, making it one of the most advanced containers to have been certified.

The intermodal containers come factory-fitted with advanced Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities to track the goods’ condition and security throughout the freight. The containers are lighter and more aerodynamic, delivering up to 20% less CO2 emissions, minimal humidity on the inside and no corrosion on the outside.

The insulation and increased durability offer drastic reductions in temperature variations, fitting time and 11% more storage volume. With their solution, Aeler aims to improve transportation efficiency by increasing payloads while safeguarding cargo and significantly reducing the environmental impact of transportation.

A timely transformation of the sector

After receiving the safety approval certification from the CSC (Convention for Safe Containers), Aeler obtained the authorization to use its containers to ship cargo around the world. The start-up is currently delivering 50 containers to customers from Germany, the Netherlands, France, Spain, the UK and the US.

According to the company, orders are increasing by the week. “We have requests for over 1’300 containers to meet, with demand for more growing every week,” explains Naik Londono, co-founder and CEO of Aeler.

“The logistics industry needs innovation, big time! The Aeler container is a bright example of a significant step forward,” said Procter & Gamble’s Sergio Barbarino, Founder of P&G’s Logistics R&D unit and Vice-Chair of Alice, the European Logistic Innovation Technology Platform.
