Microcity’s mission is to support and promote innovation in the canton of Neuchâtel. The structure is affiliated with the national program Switzerland Innovation, a platform that aims to position the country as an innovation hub on the international stage. It focuses on technology transfer in the fields of micro-nanotechnology, micro-fabrication and industrialization processes, and targets start-ups, SMEs and large companies.
A unique innovation ecosystem
Drawing on three centuries of industrial expertise, the canton of Neuchâtel is renowned for its know-how. With companies that know how to evolve and develop miniaturized, reliable, complex and high value-added products, the canton has become an international leader in the fields of micro-nanotechnology and micro-fabrication applied to health, energy, mobility and space exploration.
Microcity brings together the players of the canton of Neuchâtel within an innovation network that is unique in the world, offering an impressive wealth of resources and a rare density. This is because Microcity can count on the skills of six research and training institutes: the Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology (CSEM), the EPFL’s Institute of Microtechnology (STI), the University of Neuchâtel (UniNE), the Haute école Arc (HE-Arc), the Neuchâtel Vocational Training Center (CPNE) and the Swiss Foundation for Research in Microtechnology (FSRM).
A personalized, structured and collaborative approach to innovation
Spread over three sites in Neuchâtel and La Chaux-de-Fonds, and with an additional building planned for 2025-2026, Microcity offers a range of services tailored to start-ups, SMEs and large companies.
By working in cooperation with partners and competence networks, Microcity enables companies to access world-class R&D institutes and offers privileged access to specialists, coaches and financing providers. In practical terms, the main activities of the Neuchâtel accelerator will be to provide information, make introductions and identify partners for collaborative projects.
