The ASEAN countries (Brunei, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam are part of the RCEP (Regional Trade Agreement of the ASEAN countries with Australia, China, Japan, New Zealand and South Korea). The agreement includes around one third of global economic output and population.
THE RCEP increases ASEAN's attractiveness for foreign direct investment, value-added activities and international production. It offers companies the opportunity to do business in ASEAN and gain access to the largest market in the world.
In addition, the free trade agreement (FTA) between Switzerland and Indonesia came into force on November 1st, 2021. For 98% of today's exports of goods from Switzerland to Indonesia, all customs duties will be abolished once the tariff abolition periods have expired.
Since the pandemic, ASEAN member states have accelerated investment in infrastructure, made possible by national infrastructure plans, policies and greater opportunities for private sector participation.
