Qatar’s GDP per capita is one of the top ten in the world. The economy is mainly supported by oil and gas, which accounts for over 60% of the GDP. In order to become less dependent of natural resources, the government decided to launch its Qatar National Vision 2030. This long-term strategy encourages social, economic, sustainable and diversified development. GDP growth has been made possible thanks to a huge number of foreign workers, who were attracted by large salaries and one of the most favorable tax environments in the world (no income tax). Despite blockades by some of its neighbors in the past, Qatar has remained an affluent country in the region.
