Breakout Session B2: water & waste water management

March 17, 2022 / 11.45 -13.15 EDT (Ottawa), 16.45 -18.15 CET (Bern)

Water has a wide range of use in our daily lives. It is abundant yet scarce; life-sustaining yet life-threatening once contaminated. With the growing demographics and industrialization, the quantity and quality of water is deteriorating. By 2025, 2/3 of the population could be facing a water crisis, while 80% of the wastewater discharged is untreated. All these can pose as an economical and environmental threat. Hence coordinated efforts through research and innovation are needed for developing sustainable water solutions.

This session looks at state-of-the-art and latest developments in Switzerland and Canada that contribute to improving the water cycle gap, efficient usage, water quality and wastewater management.

We have invited innovative Canadian and Swiss companies, corporates and research institutions to present their pitches on innovative developments covering technologies that contribute to improvements in water and wastewater management which includes: Water Supply and Quality, Water and Watershed Management, Water for Circular Economy (Reclamation and Reuse), Water for Ecosystems and Biodiversity, Waste Water Treatment (Conventional Activated Sludge System, Energy Recovery and Neutral Methods, Bioreactors, Residual Separation and Treatment Techniques), Stormwater and Wet Weather Management, and Collection Systems.
