Customs AEO agreement between China and Switzerland

The conditions apply to companies that are Authorized Economic Operators (AEO). The Chinese and Swiss customs authorities have reached an agreement on mutual AEO recognition, which came into force on September 1, 2017.

China: Enterprises with the AEO status are considered to be reliable and trustworthy.
China: Enterprises with the AEO status are considered to be reliable and trustworthy.

The mutual AEO agreement reduces technical barriers to trade and facilitates trade for companies enjoying AEO status. The customs authorities regard companies with AEO status as exceptionally reliable and trustworthy. They enjoy special security-related customs controls privileges and benefit from simplified customs clearance.

Once the agreement comes into force, both customs authorities will exchange the AEO list. The importer is required to declare the AEO code of the supplier correctly to enjoy the AEO benefits. The customs clearance time for AEOs on both sides is expected to be cut by between 30% and 50%, which will reduce logistics costs and further boost bilateral trade and economic cooperation. It is recommended that Swiss companies consider cooperating with authorized enterprises to ensure safe and smooth trade.
