ELEKTRON AG expands into Poland

The technology company has established a logistics organization in Warsaw with the help of S-GE, gaining new customers in the energy and industry market.

ELEKTRON AG provides smart solutions for efficient systems
As a result of globalization and rapidly changing markets, ELEKTRON AG has undergone a strategic change in direction. An important customer – a major international corporation – has relocated its production from Ticino to Poland. "In order to be able to continue providing our services to the customer, we decided to broaden our geographical horizons and establish warehouse logistics abroad," says CEO Enrico Baumann when justifying the expansion decision, adding, "We wanted to start small, but at the same time take the opportunity to look around for more potential customers in Poland." This has meant a paradigm shift for the company, which was founded 65 years ago as a general importer of the German AEG Group and has developed into a leading Swiss technology company in the industry and energy market. The company provides smart solutions for efficient systems in the business areas of drive systems, electronics, lighting and payment systems.

A foothold in Poland and new customers acquired with the support of S-GE
The chamber of commerce recommended that ELEKTRON contact Switzerland Global Enterprise (S-GE). The Swiss Business Hub in Poland organized a fact-finding trip, accompanied by a local agent. This brought the ELEKTRON CEO together with potential customers in the lighting sector. He concludes that, "Poland is a very interesting market, as on the one hand there are efficient, hard-working skilled personnel and on the other hand there are numerous infrastructure projects on the agenda." Another job for S-GE was to list potential customers in the industrial sector. Baumann says, "There are 30 remaining candidates that we are now personally contacting." He speaks highly of the support from S-GE saying, "Outstanding work has been done in both Zurich and Warsaw – and for a very fair price." The efforts have paid off. A logistics facility has been established in Wroclaw, the first customers have been acquired, and another job has already been assigned to S-GE. ELEKTRON AG is currently considering establishing a sales company for Eastern Europe in Poland.
